PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely hold the element and Si3 N4 heater of an oxygen sensor utilizing the heater and, at the same time, to easily manufacture the heater. SOLUTION: An oxygen sensor is provided with an element 3 made of a solid electrolyte and a heater 4 made of silicon nitride. The element 3 and heater 4 are held in such a state that a fit-contacting section 10 having locking projections 12 is provided in the element and locking recessed sections 15 with which the projections 12 of the fit-contacting section 10 are engaged when the section 10 is fitted into a fit-contacting section 13 provided in an element holder 8 are provided on the holder 8. Then a fit-contacting section 16 having locking recessed sections 18 is provided in the heater 4 and locking sections 21 with which the recessed sections 18 of the section 16 are engaged when the section 16 is inserted into a fit-contacting section 19 provided on a heater holder 9 are provided on the holder 9.
