PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the resistance against a flow of air and increase the heat- exchange capacity in improving the performance and also facilitate the cleaning by providing an inlet for air in the front of a casing. SOLUTION: This air conditioner has in the front part of the bottom of a decorative cover 3 an air outlet 5, which is somewhat inclined and has air- directing slats 6a, 6b. The apparatus has in the lower part of the front side of a front panel 4 a first air inlet 7 having a screening board 9 which covers or exposes a cover 8. The apparatus furthermore has a second air inlet 12 and a third air inlet 13 in the top side of the decorative cover 3 and in that of a back cabinet 2, respectively. This constitution, when the air conditioner is not at work, makes the air conditioner harmonize with the interior by covering the air outlet 5 and the first air inlet 7 under the air-directing slats 6a, 6b and the screening board 9, respectively. When the apparatus is at work, the air-directing slats 6a, 6b are opened as required for the cooling or heating; then the screening board 9 is opened and the room air is sucked in through the first air inlet 7, the second air inlet 12 and third air inlet 13, turned to cooler air or warmer air by a heat exchanger inside, and blown out through the air outlet 5. |
