PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently produce the subject compound useful as an intermediate, etc., for producing a liquid crystalline compound having the cyclohexane skeleton by converting a specific cyclohexane compound into the trans-isomer in the presence of an alkyl halide compound and a Lewis acid. SOLUTION: A cyclohexane compound of formula I A is a group of formula II [(m) and (n) are each 0 or 1; R is a 1-10C alkyl, a 1-10C mono- or difluoroalkyl, a 2-7C alkoxyalkyl or a 2-8C alkenyl; groups of formula III or IV are each a group of trans-1-sila-1,4-cyclohexylene, trans-4-sila-1,4- cyclohexylene, mono- or difluoro-1,4-phenylene or trans-1,4-cyclohexylene in which silicon at the 1- or 4-position has a substituent group such as H, F, Cl, CH3 , phenyl, tolyl or an alkoxy; B1 and B2 are each a single bond or ethylene]; X is a halogen; L1 and L2 are each H or F} is converted into the trans-isomer to afford the objective trans-cyclohexane compound. |
