PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a ceramic member which can be used for water treatment, water quality improvement, etc., and has a large number of minute voids within and in the surface of the ceramic formed body and from which calcium and/or other components can be supplied to water. SOLUTION: This ceramic member is formed by mixing an inorganic material and a calcareous material with a binder component, a magnetic material, etc., and then, subjecting the resulting mixture to sintering and magnetization at an appropriate temp. capable of maintaining the properties of the inorganic material and calcareous material. Also, if necessary, the sintered ceramic member is impregnated with nutrient components, etc., to effectively utilize the voids within the ceramic member formed body and also to supply organic and inorganic components and nutrient components, which are contained in the ceramic member, to water at the time of performing water treatment. Particularly, at the time of using the ceramic member for water treatment utilizing microorganisms, circumstances that promote the activity and propagation of the microorganisms can be provided.
|
