A gun has a loading mechanism including a cartridge support member movable on a pair of pivoted levers between a back position in which the cartridge is loaded on to the support member and a forward position adjacent the cartridge chamber of the gun barrel (Figs. 1, 2, not shown). A cartridge retaining means is provided at the side of the support member and comprises a pair of spring loaded pivoted levers 14 each of which is connected through a pivoted linkage system with an actuating member 24 which, when the support member is adjacent its forward position, engages an abutment on the forward pivoted lever 3 to move the retaining lever against its spring bias away from the cartridge.</p> |
