PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a metal can with a hand ring, for which a sufficient welding strength of a clip plate for the attaching of the hand ring to the top plate is ensured, and in which the generation of holes due to the welding heat of a film laminated layer on the internal surface of the top plate is prevented from happening, and which is excellent in chemical resistance. SOLUTION: A metal can with a hand ring is equipped with a top plate 2 for which a film laminated layer 15 is laminated on the internal surface of a steel sheet S with a thickness of 0.24-0.40mm. Then, on the external side of the top plate 2, a clip plate 4 for the attaching of the hand ring 3, is spot- welded. A welding rib 7 on the top plate 2 where the spot-welding is done, is formed into a rib-shape which protrudes to the outside of the can and has an indent to the inside of the can. The film laminated layer 15 is a polyethyleneterephthalate based or modified polyethyleneterephthalate based film of which the thickness is 10-150μm, and the meling point of which is 210-265 deg.C. In the indented part 17 of the welding rib 7, a thermoplastic resin layer 16 with a thickness of 2-15μm is laminated on the internal surface of the film laminated layer 15. When the clip plate 4 is welded to the top plate 2, a welding current volume per welding spot is set at 1.6-2.3KA.
