PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a high-definition color filter having an arbitrary color picture element array like a mosaic type with a low cost by the electrochemical method only by directly supplying power to a substrate for color filter. SOLUTION: With respect to the substrate for color filter where plural picture element electrode groups to form color picture elements of plural colors are formed, wirings 2 which electrically connect picture element electrode groups 1 for formation of color picture elements of the same color are provided in areas (including picture element areas) other than picture element electrodes on the substrate. In this case, wirings are laid out so that picture element electrode groups and wirings 2 forming color picture elements of different colors are not made conductive to each other. Picture element electrode groups 1 and wirings 2 are simultaneously formed by lithography or the like.
