A filter for filtering suspensions (e.g. impure paper pulp) comprises a perforate cylindrical screen with duct means for supplying suspension to one end and with at least one cleaning bar mounted on the end of at least one rotary supporting arm carried by a shaft, the leading edge of the or each supporting arm intersecting the surface of rotation of the leading vertex line of the associated cleaning bar at or in front of this vertex line, with reference to the direction of rotation of the cleaning bar. Accumulation of impurities thereon is thus prevented. As shown, impure suspension is introduced at 5, Fig. 1, and flows downwards inside perforate screen 1. Filtered suspension is discharged at 8, while impurities collect at 9 and are discharged at 10. Cleaning bars 2 supported by arms 4 are rotated by a shaft 3. The leading edge 11, Fig. 2, of each arm 4 intersects the surface of rotation of the leading vertex line 12 of the associated bar 2 in front of this line. The cross-section of bar 4 is shown at 13. In Figs. 4 and 5, (not shown), a single pair of arms 4 is provided at the top of the shaft 3, the bars 2 depending therefrom. The angles formed at the junctions of arms 4 and bars 2 are rounded, both inside and outside to avoid the formation of dead angles in the axial flow direction.</p> |
