PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain new DNA sequences consisting of a region coding for a modified low density lipoprotein receptor in a mammalian vascular epithelial cell and having specific amino acid sequences, and useful for the production of the modified low density lipoprotein receptor, a diagnostic reagent for arterial sclerosis, etc. SOLUTION: These new DNA sequences consist of a region coding for a modified low density lipoprotein receptor in a mammalian vascular epithelial cell and having specific amino acid sequences, expressed by formula I or II, and are useful for the preparation of an antigen for the production of an antibody to the modified low density lipoprotein receptor useful for the production of the modified low density lipoprotein receptor or its homologous substance and the diagnosis of arterial sclerosis. This DNA sequences are obtained by isolating mRNA from the total RNA extracted from bovine aorta epithelial cells, preparing a cDNA library by using the mRNA, performing an assay of the obtained colonies by using a binding property to the low density lipoprotein, selecting a clone containing a DNA coding for low density lipoprotein receptor, and recovering the DNA from the clone. |
