PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a calibration method for relating a radar reflection factor distribution in the sky by a rainfall radar to a ground rainfall distribution. SOLUTION: A distribution Z(h) 105 for the altitude of a radar reflection factor is calculated by a vertical measurement radar 1. Parameters B andβ106 of Z-R relation equation on the ground is obtained by performing calibration using the statistical method from Zo and a ground rainfall calculation value Ro101 by estimating a value Zo104 equivalent to the ground radar reflection factor by exterpolating to the ground side or a rainfall radar 2 in the horizontal direction calculates the distribution of the radar reflection factor in the sky and obtains the ratio of radar reflection factors ZH103 and Zv102 in a space 10 where the radars 2 and 1 cross. Then, by using the ratio of parameters B andβin the Zo-Ro relation equation on the ground to the radar reflection factor in the sky, the Zo104, and z(h) 105, the radar reflection factor in the sky is related to the ground rainfall.
