PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a wide-area road map of the periphery of a destination by changing the viewpoint of a bird's-eye view and a sight line according to the degree of an approach to the destination, and converting a plane figure road map into a bird's-eye view and displaying it. SOLUTION: A controller 1 draws a bird's-eye view road map and gradually makes a change from the bird's-eye view display to a plane figure display according to the degree of the approach to the destination. An azimuth sensor 2 detects the traveling direction of a vehicle and a distance sensor 3 detects the travel distance of the vehicle. Further, a GPS receiver 4 receives a GPS signal from a satellite and detects the current place, travel direction, travel speed, etc., of the vehicle. A storage device 5 stores plane figure type road map data and an input device 6 is used to set the destination, etc. On a display 7 which displays road maps and character information, images are displayed while the viewpoint of the bird's-eye view and the sight line are changed according to the degree of the approach to the destination set by the input device 6 as a destination setting means. |
