PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a body counter satisfying both of physical requirements for achieving an accurate measurement and psychological requirements for eliminating the uneasiness of a subject for measurement. SOLUTION: A main shield 1 is in a nearly square columnar structure where the upper part is opened, suppresses the influence for a detector (installed inside a rear surrounding 2) by shielding the background radiation to accurately measure the radiation inside a subject's body, and eliminates the sense of pressure which the subject may feel. Since the back ground radiation can be applied also from the upper part, countermeasures are provided by adding a shield for ceiling and changing the position of a detector. The subject can view a display 8 in the front while being seated, provides various information related to measurement to the subject along with a speaker, and directly and indirectly functions for smooth and accurately measurement.
