The filter (1) is made of fibrous material with pores (5) with an average pore width (d) of between 0.1 and 0.7, preferably 0.6, millimetres measured with a fibre density amounting to roughly 50% of the original or average fibre density of the material. The pores are produced by needles on rollers, or by water jets. The pores form a perforation (4) along which the filter can be separated to reduce its size.
