The club consists of a neck (2) designed to be used as handle for the user, and a body (3). The body has a cavity to receive one or more weights (13,14). The cavity is closed at its end (6) nearest the neck of the club. Its other end is open for the insertion of the weights and has a stopper (10). The inside of the cavity has a spring (16) or packing, e.g. of synthetic foam, to take up any space not occupied by the weights, and the cavity itself can be lined with a sleeve of a rigid material. The volume of the cavity can be, for example, about 26 cc, sufficient to contain weights of about 300 g if they are of lead, or 200 g if of steel. The density of the stopper can be varied according to the required total weight of the club and the position of its centre of gravity.
