Method of grey-scale modulation in matrix display

The method involves controlling the display by modulating the potential in response to the incoming video signal. The video signal is sampled to deliver a stream of samples corresponding to the amplitude of the video signal. These samples are converted to pulse-width modulated signals (120) and applied to the emitters of the appropriate column, via the column driver circuit. The row controls enable or disable the display points. The matrix display has multiple row (60-68) and column (50-58) inputs to drive the display. The display has a number of display zones, selected by a difference in potential between the row and column.
