FIELD: chemical industry, production of polishing and protecting compositions for pater, leather, wood, or the like. SUBSTANCE: process comprises reacting fatty acid or mixture of fatty acids with monoethanol amine at monoethanolamine to fatty acid of 1:(1-0.6), and process if then carried out at boiling temperature of the reaction mixture and at atmospheric pressure till acid number of 40-60 is attained followed by vacuum treatment at residual pressure of 150-500 mm Hg at 160-180 C till the desired acid number and the saponification number of the final product are attained.
