<p>An excellent seat belt retractor capable of being reliably switched from a mode of using it as an emergency locking retractor to a mode of using it as an automatic locking retractor without requiring to improve the assembling accuracy of the constituent parts. A control means for setting a locking portion (56) to a first position in which the locking portion is engaged with teeth (18a) of a ratchet wheel (18) and a second position in which the locking portion is not engaged with the ratchet wheel (18) in accordance with a takeup amount of a webbing (50) is provided with a control plate (65) adapted to be turned in accordance with the turning of a bobbin (3), and a lock lever (55) urged in the direction in which the locking portion (56) is moved to the first or second position by an elastic projection (46a). The control plate (65) and lock lever (55) are provided with a locking projection (66) and a flexible locking portion (60) which are capable of displacing the lock lever (55) to the first position only when the webbing (50) payed out to not less than a predetermined length is taken up.</p> |
