A process for producing a synchronising ring for a synchronising device is characterised in that a sheet-metal strip (1) is given conical friction surfaces (2, 3) curving downwards at both ends by a shaping process, in a further shaping process along a longitudinal axis a thinner region (4) is formed between the friction surfaces (2, 3), pieces are stamped out in said region (4) to form securing tongues (9,10) and connecting webs (7), the sheet metal strips (1) are extended so that two synchronising rings (13, 14) with their securing tongues (9, 10) held together by the connecting webs (7) are produced by bending around and welding which are finally joined to form finished synchronising rings (13, 14) by severing the connecting webs (7). The process of the invention makes it possible to produce two synchronising rings (13, 14) on one operational sequence, unlike the case with prior art processes.
