The tracheal tube is inserted into the trachea of the patient with its distal end most deeply inserted in the trachea in order to supply a respiratory gas to the lungs. The tracheal tube (2) comprises a co-carrier device arranged at a pre determined distance from the distal end of the tube. The co-carrier device comprises an open tube arranged in the wall of the tracheal tube so that the first tube opening is outside the tracheal tube and a second opening is in the flow path facing the distal end. It allows gases, including nitrogen oxide, which may be generated by the patient to enter the tracheal tube, but closes to maintain the integrity of the exhaled gas flow to the ventilator (11). |
