High water seal for wall opening, e.g. door or window

The seal comprises a shield (1) on the outside of the wall (13) in front of the opening. The edge of the opening is at least partly covered. A seal (19) is placed between the shield and the wall. The shield has at least one spreading device (8) which supports itself against opposing inner surfaces of the opening. It may be arranged horizontally or vertically. The shield is preferably made from a plate (2) with a bevelled outer edge.
