The counter has spaces for accommodating goods located above positioning surfaces. The spaces have screens over their front sides (7) which comprise a cover or glazing and which are held by support arms (14). The arms have two straight components extending from them at an angle to each other. The support ends (15) of the arms are supported on the inner side (16) of the counter and their other ends extend towards the front sides. Only one support arm (23) is needed at each outer corner (8). It is fixed in the area of the mitering abutment of the angle. The front glazing can be pivoted upwards around pivot hinges (12) with the pivot axes running parallel to the front side edge (4). The pivot hinges are held by the support arms.
