Fire resistant resin composition, for e.g. electrical wire insulation

Fire resistant resin composition (I), containing: (A) a multiple copolymer of alkyl (meth)acrylate, ethylene and maleic anhydride; (B) a thermoplastic styrene elastomer with a tensile strength of 250 kgl/cm<2> or more; and (C) a polyolefin resin (other than component A). Composition (I) is obtd. by mixing 40-80 pts. wt. (A), 5-30 pts. wt. (B) and sufficient (C) to give 100 pts. wt., and adding 60-120 pts. wt. metal hydroxide (D) to 100 pts. wt. (A + B + C), to give a product with a Durometer D hardness of 48-58. Also claimed is insulated wire consisting of an electrical conductor coated with claimed composition. Pref. component (C) comprises polyethylene or an ethylene copolymer, and component (D) is Mg(OH)2.
