A branching device incorporated in a small space, allowing a large current to pass therethrough, and having characteristics equivalent to those of a branching device which has structure utilizing a coaxial pipe. A groove (6a) is provided between a cable connecting section (3) and a main line terminal (5b) in the internal surface of a cover (1). The section (3) is connected to the terminal (5b) through a conductive rod (6) disposed in the groove (6a) in such a way that the rod (6) is not in contact with the internal surface of the groove (6a). A dielectric block (7) is so provided in the groove (6a) that the block (7) is movable in the groove (6a) longitudinally.
