In order to fix the gaze and therefore the position of a human eye during an eye operation, a projector is provided, which is preferably designed as an eye cover (1) set on the non-operated eye of the patient and preferably with several point-shaped light sources (6), for example light-emitting diodes, the light of which is directed onto the retina of the eye without being focused or after being optionally focused through a lens or lens arrangement (7). The light sources may be selectively switched on and off by means of a selecting apparatus (9), for example a keyboard (11) with directional keys (14, 15, 16 and 17). As the movements of both eyes are forcibly coupled, the desired position of the operated eye may be adjusted by asking the patient to fixate a selected corresponding light source.
