Handling assembly for narrow strip coils

The assembly has a number of narrow strip coils (2) in the coil magazine (1), next to each other with their axes at right angles to the line of movement. The coil loader (5) can be moved in a vertical direction (10) in addition to its movement (8) between the coil magazine and the unwinding reel (15). It has a carrier roller (18) to engage the coil centre opening (19) to take a coil (2) from the magazine, together with at least two pressure rollers (20,21) against the coil circumference for radial support during movement. A stationary unit (13) is between the coil magazine and the unwinding reel, in the path of the loader movement, to open the narrow strip coil and position the leading end of the strip to be gripped for insertion into the working station. The spreader mandrel (16) has an axially parallel opening for the carrier roller, to allow the centre opening of the coil to be pushed over the free end of the un-spread mandrel.
