The binding consists of a retaining jaw (4) which can be moved between retaining and release positions, a body (2) carrying the jaw and connected to the ski via a base, and a jaw return mechanism with a spring (15) and locking element (16). It also has a feeler which supports at least part of the ski boot sole, and a connector (63) between the feeler and the return mechanism. The connector reinforces the effort which the return mechanism exercises on the jaw in response to an increase in the force applied to the feeler. The return spring also has a regulating screw (20), and the connector is linked to a component (66) which acts as a lever against the end of the screw to apply an additional compression to the spring. <IMAGE>
