<p>A liquid crystal display which is of a reflection type not using a backlight and which does not use a polarizer. To achieve a high contrast, a liquid crystal layer of the liquid crystal display comprises first and second liquid crystal gel layers (41, 42) each prepared by orienting in a predetermined direction a liquid crystal polymer (7) in a dichroic liquid crystal comprising a dichroic dye (60) and a liquid crystal (5), wherein the direction of orientation of a filamentous polymer (7) contained in the first gel layer (41) crosses the direction of orientation of a filamentary polymer (7) contained in the second gel layer (42).</p> |
