<p>a -Hydroperoxy-nitriles are prepared from mononitriles in which the a -carbon atom is bonded to one or two hydrogen atoms, the remaining valencies of the a -carbon atom each being attached to separate carbon atoms, by oxidation of the nitrile in the presence of a medium which does not split off protons or only does so to a negligible extent and in the presence of a base of sufficient strength that the nitrile is converted into the carbonion, the oxidation being achieved by dispersion of oxygen in the reaction medium at a temperature not higher than 10 DEG C. and the neutralization of the mixture thus obtained.</p> |
