Refrigerator freezer with infrared transmission of status signals

The refrigerator and freezer unit (2) has a user panel (10) that has the normal indicators of status together with selector switches and a temperature regulator (10-20). Built in is a transmitter module (24) that allows signals to be sent over an infrared link to a receiver (36) that can be built into the cooker in the kitchen. The receiver outputs data to a display (38) to signal warnings for such as `door open', `temperature too low', etc.
