PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep a preliminary processed image screen bright by preventing camera-shake when a shutter speed is low due to low luminance. SOLUTION: An exposure control section 6 conducts first photometry to obtain a photometry value Ev1' from a 1st photometry value Ev1 as preliminary processing to separate it into an aperture Av1' and a shutter time Tv1' and to revise the aperture based on the aperture Av1'. Second photometry is conducted and an exposure errorΔEv is obtd., based on the 2nd photometry value Ev2 and the photometry value Ev1'. A 1st shutter time Tv2 is obtained based on the shutter time Tv1' and the exposure errorΔEv. When the 1st shutter time Tv2 is lower than a prescribed shutter time Tv9, an amplified gain (a) for preliminary processing is increased to keep the lightness of the preliminary processing image. Furthermore, a prescribed shutter time Tv9 is used to flash a strobe via a strobe control section and image pickup is conducted.
