PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform appropriate correction at the time of signal conversion between object chrominance signals and light source chrominance signals. SOLUTION: Input chrominance signals obtained from an image input part 1 are converted into optional chrominance signals provided with luminance components in a color correction part 2, the correction for the feature luminance components is added and the chrominance signals are finally converted to output chrominance signals required in an image output part 8. The image input part 1 and the image output part 8 display light source colors and the object colors respectively. For instance, a combination for which a color monitor is used as a light source color display device and a color printer is used as an object color display device is adopted. As the input chrominance signals or the output chrominance signals, RGB signals are used in the color monitor and CMY signals are used in the color printer (intrinsic to input/output equipments). Also, the optional chrominance signals provided with the luminance components are, for instance, XYZ.L*a*b*.xyY.u'v'Y. |
