摘要
1,088,935. Crimping yarns; stop-motions. JOHN HEATHCOAT & CO. Ltd. June 2, 1965 [July 2, 1964], No. 27380/64. Headings DID and D1F. In a crinkling operation, thermoplastic fibre yarn Y, Fig. 1, supplied from a creel 1 passes through a tensioner 2 and a guide 3 to a feed roller 4, thence to another guide 5, over an oiling roller 6 and around a crimping head C which the yarn enters and leaves through guides 7 and 8. The head C, Fig. 2, comprises a circular row of sinker blocks 14 and sinker elements 15 each pivotable between open and closed positions in which its free end is disengaged from, or occupies, a corresponding space between blocks 14. Cams 17 and 19, Fig. 2, engage the elements so that, as the head rotates, each in turn is open at a first angular position of the head to permit the yarn to be introduced between the elements and the blocks and is then closed to entrap the yarn, and subsequently opened to release the yarn at a second angular position of the head. The yarn is set in the deformed or crinkled configuration by heating from a temperature controlled electric element 33. The cam 19, Fig. 9, is mounted on an arm 23, adjustably supported in slides in the head, by means of a rod 27 received in a bore in a mounting 29. Whenever the space between the open elements 15 and the blocks 14 is occupied by too much yarn, the cam rocks, against the action of a spring 21, and, if an adjustable amount of free travel (as determined by a set screw 31) is exceeded, this causes an electric contact 30 to close a circuit (not shown) to disengage the driving clutch of the machine.
