PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optically functional thin film and more particularly an antireflection film or half mirror film having excellent scratching resistance, surface hardness, adhesive strength and film appearance by coating a transparent plastic plate with at least two layers of multilayered films by a coating method, such as dipping. SOLUTION: This optical material consists of the plastic substrate 2 which has translucency, the hard coating layer 3 which is formed by coating on the substrate 2, the high-refractive index layer 4 which is formed by coating on the hard coating layer 3 and consists essential of metal alkoxide and the low- refractive index coating layer 5 which is formed by coating on the high- refractive index layer 4 and consists essentially of an org. silicon compd. and colloidal oxide. The total film thickness of the three layers is in a range of 0.5 to 10μm. The optical material is useful as the antireflection film having the excellent scratching resistance, surface hardness, adhesive strength and film appearance. |
