PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device with which anyone can easily and surely recognize the position of a failure by visually displaying the position of the failure instantly when the failure is caused. SOLUTION: A power source circuit 4 supplies power sources to the whole of a liquid crystal display device, a signal processing circuit 3 generates picture data for displays and control signals for various kinds of operational controls from an input video signal. A liquid crystal panel 1 displays pictures based on picture data generated in the signal processing circuit 3 on a screen. A backlight 2 illuminated the liquid crystal panel 1, based on the control signals generated in the circuit 3. Detecting means S1∼S4 detect the generations of failures of the power source circuit 4, the signal processing circuit 3, the liquid crystal panel 1 and the backlight 2. Display means L1∼L4 visually display the occurrence of falures by the detection outputs of detecting means S1∼S4.
