The method involves using the handle (10) on the proximal end (8) of the catheter. The catheter is introduced into the patient's blood vessel (2) until the distal end (12) is in the area of the aneurism (4). The two materials needed to fill the catheter balloon (14) are then injected via inlets (20,24) on the handle (10) and tubes (18,22) through the catheter. The foamed polymer expands until the balloon is in contact with the inner wall of the aneurism. When the foam has set, the catheter is withdrawn from the blood vessel, being compressed as it passes through the narrower normal sections of the vessel. When the balloon is in the open air, the foam returns to the shape formed in the aneurism.
