PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the heating efficiency of a heating resistance element and to make it possible to shorten the recording time by dividing the resistor of a thermal head to a plurality of blocks, and sequentially repeatedly applying plural times the first gradation strobe pulse of each block to the each block. SOLUTION: A thermal head 9 is constituted by dividing 512 heating resistance elements R1 to T152 sequentially arranged in a main scanning direction into the two blocks of the elements R1 to R255 and R256 to R512. A strobe pulse 1 is a signal for specifying the conducting periods of the elements R1 to R255 of the block 1, a strobe pulse 2 is a signal for specifying the conducting period of the elements R256 to R512 of the block 2, and the pulses are set to '0' to conduct only the element of the gradation data '1'. Thus, the blocks 1 and 2 are alternately conducted continuously at each one gradation, repeated 63 times to express the 64 gradations.
|
