PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lessen a leakage current at the time when a capacitor is left to stand for a long period of time in a state that a voltage is not applied to the capacitor by a method wherein specified amidines or their salts are added to an electrolyte consisting of a solvent and a solute. SOLUTION: An electrolyte consists of a solvent and a solute and is obtained by adding amidines or their salts, which are shown by the formula I, to the electrolyte. Provided that, in the formula I, the X shows an aromatic carboxylic acid and the R shows a lower alkyl group. At this time, aγ-butyrolactone is used as the main solvent, the ammonium salt of a phthalic acid, amine salt or quaternary ammonium salt is used as the main solute and it is preferable that the amidines or their salts, which are shown by the formula I, are added to the electrolyte. Thereby, as a dielectric oxide film, which is little deteriorated, can be formed of the electrolyte, it becomes possible to lessen a leakage current even if a capacitor is left to stand extending over a long period of time without applying a voltage.
