Depression of a push-button 3 momentarily completes a circuit between a metal thimble 8 and fixed contacts 14, a spring 10 breaking the circuit upon release of the button, and simultaneously rotates one or more moving contact members 23 via one or more rotatable insulating members such as 19, 19<SP>1</SP>, such that spring contact arms 24, 24<SP>1</SP> make or break contact with fixed contacts 25, 25<SP>1</SP> with successive operating movements of the button 3. A snap-action break is. provided by using projections 27 to incline the fixed contacts 25, 25<SP>1</SP> such that the arms 24, 24<SP>1</SP> ride up the fixed contacts and override their ends with a quick break action. One set of contacts 24, 25 make as the other set 24<SP>1</SP>, 25<SP>1</SP> break. The general switch onstruction is similar to that of Specification 765,556, which describes also actuation by a pull chain replacing the push-button 3. Application to a fluorescent lighting unit is described (Figs. 2-4, not shown). |
