摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the degradation in image grade and to obtain high quality, high luminance and high contrast by forming an antireflection film where the wavelength of light to minimize reflectivity exists on the surface of a polarizing plate, thereby lessening the light incident by the return light from the exit side of a TFT liquid crystal panel to the panel. SOLUTION: The luminous flux radiated from a light source 1 transmits the incident side polarizing plate 4 via a reflection plate 2 and is made into linearly polarized light which is then made incident on the TFT liquid crystal panel 5. The exit side polarizing plate 6 is stuck to the exit surface of the TFT liquid crystal panel 5 so as to come optically into tight contact therewith. The light transmitted through the TFT liquid crystal panel 5 is projected via an optical system 8 for projection to a screen. An antireflection film (the film in which the wavelength of the light to minimize the reflectivity exists between 400 to 500nm) which emphatically prevents the reflection of the surface reflection on the short wavelength side is formed on the surface of the exit side polarizing plate 6. As a result, the irradiation of the TFT panel with the light of the high sensitivity is made possible.
