The chassis consists of a horizontal anchoring frame (2) with two lengthwise members designed to fit beneath the lateral edges of the body to be re-aligned, and a central frame (1) connected to a lifting mechanism (3) and situated between the lengthwise members of the anchoring frame. The central frame is equipped with wheel supports (4) on extensions (4a) of its lengthwise members, and can be raised by the lifting mechanism above the level of the anchoring frame. Two of the wheel supports can be connected by a cross-member, and the extension bars (4a) of the central frame are able to form a sliding engagement with a thrust bar which forms part of the realignment assembly. The bars and lengthwise members have holds in them for temporary fixing pins. The chassis is also equipped with a locking mechanism which has a bolt actuated by a power cylinder, e.g. pneumatic.
