PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a graphite material suitable as a material constituting an electrode of a nonaqueous solvent secondary battery, its manufacturing method, and a nonaqueous solvent secondary battery having a negative electrode comprising the graphite material. SOLUTION: The graphite material for a nonaqueous solvent secondary battery electrode has an average spacing of (002) planes d002 as determined by X-ray diffraction of 0.336-0.345nm, and a crystallite size in the direction of (c) axis Lc(002) of 15-60nm, and a crystal strain ε of 2.0×10<-2> or less.
