The method involves erecting prefabricated panels (2) beneath the exposed edge of the existing structure (1). The panels have niches (5) and steel guide rings (8) in them for metal beams (6) which are driven into the ground. The vertical edges of the panels have tenon and mortise joints so that several panels can be fitted together edge-to-edge. The beams are driven into the ground by slideways (3) fixed to the panels and supporting power cylinders (4) connected to a power source (61). Several power cylinders can be used which operate in sequence to increase the force applied to the beams. Once the beams have been driven in to a satisfactory depth the remaining spaces in the niches are filled with concrete. |
