A method wherein (a) a preshaped decorative portion D is printed back-to-front on a plastic film F using inks that adhere to said film to give a film F/D, (b) a backing S and the multilayer printed film F/D are combined to form a printed backing F/D/S in which the decorative portion D is sandwiched between said film F and said backing S, and (c) said printed backing F/D/S is shaped into a printed packaging.
