PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the color reproducibility and quality of a green color, thin lines and an isolated point area by taking image density distribution into account in the case of overlapping a toner image so as to correct the image and generating recording image data thereby conducting optical modulation. SOLUTION: A 1st correction circuit 1300 conducts correction in response to an image density of each color and a 2nd correction circuit 1400 conducts a deviation due to a structure between images corresponding to a 2nd phenomenon. A 3rd correction circuit 1500 conducts correction image data corresponding to a 3rd phenomenon and deviation in a reproduced image. Recording image density data subject to KNC correction are given to an MTF correction circuit, in which the data are processed. A filter 110 obtains Laplacian valuesΔY,ΔM,ΔC,ΔK with respect to noted picture elements in response to the edge effect corresponding to the density change in each color. A correction parameter being a correction amount for each picture element of each color is decided and image density data are corrected, based on the correction parameter.
