PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lithium secondary battery with excellent high temperature storage characteristics by using a lithium-containing manganese compound oxide having the specified specific surface area as a positive active material. SOLUTION: A positive electrode 3 is formed in such a way that for example, a lithium-containing manganese compound oxide whose specific surface area is less than 9.0m<2> /g serving as an active material, a conductive material, and a binder are kneaded, and the kneaded material is press-molded in a pellet. The specific surface area of the lithium-containing manganese compound oxide is preferable to be 4.5m<2> /g or more but less than 9.0m<2> /g. Since the compound oxide is electrochemically stable, a secondary battery having the positive electrode 3 containing the compound oxide has high discharge capacity. |
