The harvesting machine has a wide cutter which is detachable in a quick and clean manner in order to transport the main machine more conveniently. Electrical and hydraulic services are connected through a plug and socket arrangement on each side of the separation. A harvested-material collector (1) is part of the main machine. The cutting section (2), with cutters (4), gathering rotor (5) and spool (3), can be uncoupled. The spool is rotated by a hydraulic motor (7) and is on an arm (8) operated by a hydraulic cylinder (9). Further hydraulic cylinders (10,12) set the spool and cutter positions. Hydraulic valves (13) control the actions of the motor and cylinders and are operated by electromagnets (14). Electrical and hydraulic connections (15,16) complete the respective circuits across the separation (6) between the main and cutting machines to the hydraulic fluid lines (18,19) and the cabin control panel (21).
