Alternating current plasma display panel and its excitation circuit

The alternating current plasma display has a display panel with sweep electrodes placed parallel to each other, and a control circuit. The control circuit applies a selection potential sequentially to the sweep electrodes, and a deselection potential for electrodes that are not to be used. The addressing potentials produce an addressing discharge on the selected electrode and thus creates a charge necessary for a maintenance discharge. The controller delivers a common maintenance pulse to the sweep electrode to obtain the maintenance discharge. An energy recovery circuit is attached to the maintenance line. The switching to the electrodes is through diodes and MOS transistors.
