PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable efficient channel assignment by performing physical assignment as to a logical channel which is effective to this musical tone controller. SOLUTION: Sound source modules 1 and 2 generate musical tone signals according to a MIDI signal supplied from a keyboard 3 through a MIDI cable. The musical tone controller is provided in the respective sound source modules 1 and 2 and has a CPU, a ROM, a RAM, a panel switch/display unit, etc., that are common to the sound source modules or individual and also has the same channel assigner. Then the assigner assigns a logical channel once receiving a key-ON signal and then assigns one or plural physical channels to sound generation as to one logical channel according to a selected timbre only when some logical channel having a specific channel number is assigned. Thus, physical channels are assigned only for logical channels which are effective to the controller. |
