PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent decrease in the contrast of a liquid crystal display element while voltage applied on pixel electrodes is not decreased, by using a dielectric material colored with a dye and/or pigment as a color filter. SOLUTION: A pixel electrode 12 comprising a transparent electrode such as ITO is formed on a gate insulating film 18 on a insulating substrate 16, and a color filter 13 is formed on the pixel electrode 12. The color filter 13 consists of a transparent org. polymer material having high dielectric const. such as cyanoethyl pullulan and cyanoethyl cellulose in which a pigment or a dye is dispersed. The color filter is formed by dispersing a pigment or a dye in a metal alkoxide of Ti, (Ba, Ti), (Sr, Ti) such as tetraethoxy titanium, tetraisopropoxy titanium and tetra n-propoxy titanium or in the metal alkoxide with partial substitution of Ba or Sr for Ti, applying the obtd. material on the substrate and baking at a specified temp. to convert the compd. into oxides. |
