摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the image quality by discriminating whether a 1st system or another system based on identification information provided to the electronic endoscope so as to avoid complicated structure of the image pickup element without increasing the clock frequency. SOLUTION: A 1st timing generator 25A generates a timing signal of a 1st system and a 2nd timing generator 25B generates a timing signal of a 2nd system. Either of the circuits is selected by the operation of a changeover circuit 24 based on the control of a CPU 28. When the electronic endoscope 10A connects to a camera control unit 11 and a light source device 12, identification information of ID 70 is detected and the CPU 28 discriminates it that the electronic endoscope 10A adopts the 1st system. A video signal is sampled by a 1st signal processing circuit 29 and fed to a 2nd signal processing circuit 31 via an A/D converter 30. Video signals of odd and even number lines is stored once in a memory. Then they are read and mixed and an image with high image quality is displayed on a monitor.
